Light in the Valley

Anglican Church

A new church in Canberra’s fastest-growing region, coming March 2027.

Why a new church?
In the past fifteen years, the number of people calling the Molonglo Valley home has grown from a handful to around 20,000. By 2050 this is expected to reach 70,000.

Only a few churches currently meet in the valley, and the vast majority of people don’t yet know Jesus as their Lord—the need is great!

In 2026 Stromlo Forest Anglican College opens its doors. From 7 March 2027, Light in the Valley Anglican Church will meet in the Early Learning School of the College.

Who is leading the church?
The new church will be led by the Rev’d Ronaldo Sanchez. Ronaldo was raised in Canberra and, with his wife and three kids, has lived in the Molonglo Valley since 2022. He studied at Moore Theological College in Sydney, and over the past decade has served in pastoral ministry in Anglican churches in Parramatta and Curtin.

When’s it all happening?
2026 is a season of prayerful preparation, as we gather a launch team and build relationships with the community.

God willing, Light in the Valley will begin public services on 7 March 2027.

How can I be involved?
We are looking for faithful, mission-minded people who can commit to joining the launch team as it prepares in 2026 and then launches in 2027.

We are looking for partners in prayer who can commit to upholding the new church in prayer.

And we are looking for financial partners—both individuals and churches. St Peter’s is only able to cover 50% of the funding of the church plant from current giving.
